Keep XZ-1 and add Stylus 1 would be my choice. Stylus 1, not 1s, can be found at better prices these days, and the firmware gives it all the features the 1s has. but, rx100m1 darkens to f4.9 when zoomed to 100mm, xz-1 and xz-2 stay brighter. If you don't care about evf or tilt lcd, original rx100m1 might be found at a great price. , or, Sony rx100 if I didn't want zoom, to get that big sensor. I would keep the XZ-1, skip the XZ-2 and go for Stylus 1 (which I did) if I wanted reach, evf.

Large sensor also allows much more cropping, so shooting wide to stay bright for low light motion, and cropping large later is a big plus to me. However, RX100 has two occasional advantages that can be easily seen at our viewing sizes: large sensor gives much less noise at higher ISO's, and more capability for close up shallow depth of field. The Sony is much more money, and I agree, for what we show here, XZ-1 or 2, or Stylus 1, (same sensor and processor as XZ-2), they all compare very well to rx100 shots. Improvements, yes, but more capability in the stable, no. So, it's about the slightly different sensor, and the newer processor. It is outstanding, but his existing XZ-1 lens is outstanding. It is because that lens on the XZ2 is just so outstanding. The Sony is a little bit better but not by much. But I find the difference is actually very slight.
